Born in 1945 in Lenno Tremezzina in the district of Como, he graduated as a mechanical engineer from the Milan Polytechnic. Meda has designed for Alfa Romeo and taught at schools in Europe, Japan and the US. In 1987 he designed the Lightlight chair for Alias which is now part of the permanent collection of New York's Museum of Modern Art.
