George Nelson

George Nelson

George Nelson (1908-1986) was one of the founding fathers of American modernism. After studying and graduating in architecture and fine arts at Yale University in 1931, Nelson travelled throughout Europe where he met a number of modernist pioneers. He was part of a generation of architects that found too few projects and turned successfully toward product, graphic and interior design. Later his work as a designer produced some of the best known designs of the 20th century. He is well known for his playful clock designs for Vitra including Omar the Owl and the Ball Clock. Aram stocks a range of his clocks and furniture, such as the Coconut chair.
