Ask a Dane to think of a rocking chair, and she will probably name this one. J16 is the undisputed classic among the many rocking chairs designed by Hans J. Wegner over the years. The rocking chair was introduced by FDB Furniture in 1944 and has been in production ever since. In his chair design, Wegner stressed the importance of freedom of movement and ergonomics – as epitomised by the rocking chair. It is a much-cherished setting for reading, knitting and even nursing babies. To match the rocking chair Wegner also designed a footstool, a seat and back cushions, and a neck support. Both the rocking chair and footstool have hand-woven seats in natural paper yarn. The rocking chair is available in soap treated or lacquered beech as well as in soap treated, oiled, lacquered or black lacquered oak
